The Story Behind the Sweets

Kim Herman has had a sweet tooth for as long as you can remember, and has always cared about what goes into her food. That balance started early: At age 9, she got a muffin mix and a set of baking supplies as a holiday gift, and she’s been experimenting in the kitchen ever since.

A health-conscious mom and lifelong Long Islander, Kim found herself facing the same challenge so many of us do—how to eat well without giving up the foods we love. 

With a background in clinical psychology and a natural curiosity about wellness, she started developing recipes that felt like dessert and supported her health goals.

Her daughters were the first taste-testers. Then came friends. Then friends of friends. Eventually, local health food stores started calling. What began as a personal project—making protein-packed muffins in her own kitchen—quickly became much sweeter than a mere hobby.
